Said plane got quite close to vaporising Dane, several shots actually hitting the car, when the Plunder curved around and slagged it good and hard, the pilot auto-bailing at his appointed time. Without time to slow down, however, the Plunder grabbed the OPD hovercar Dane had "borrowed" and pulled it into the cargo bay, the turbulence of which probably knocked him around even more, before the frigate did a one-eighty and zoomed back towards Carcosa.

Coming aboard the ship after the big chase, Captain Hart asked one of the crewmen, "Is Dane alright?"
The crewman started to say something, and Jo cut him off. "Is Dane alive?" She clarified.
"Oh." The pirate replied. "Yes, he's alive."
"Good." Jo replied, pulling the cobra-engraved cutlass from the package. "Jane, get this bird in the air and on the way to the Cove."
"Right." She replied, coated in priceless jewelry, looking at herself in a compact as she walked. "Oo, I think most of these bracelets really bring out my eyes."
Andromeda was wating for her on the way to the bridge, but Jo brushed past her. "No time, Andi. Piracy."
When Hart reached the bridge, she was grinning ear to ear as she stared at the cutlass.
"Jo," Morgan began in a disapproving tone. Captain Hart cut him off as well.
"This is John Melrose's cutlass." She said, a huge smile on her face and triumph in her eyes. "The first space pirate. It's made of aerantium, coated in platinum, gold, and jewels worth more than some country's gross domestic product. It was the most valuable item at that museum." She grinned madly and took grip of the weapon by the scabbard. "But it's real value isn't the weapon itself."
Then, Hart lifted the priceless weapon and smashed its hilt against the wall. The pommel was ripped from the end of the hilt. While the shocked crew watched, she reached into the new cavity in the hilt and removed a small white memory stick.
"This, my friends, is a map to the final resting place of John Melrose. And, with it, all the treasure he had ever discovered. Once we decrypt this data, we'll be on our way to booty galore." She smirked as she turned on the ship-wide comm. "Don't get too comfortable, kids, because we're about to go on a bona-fide, x-marks the spot treasure hunt."
