Sean walked the streets of Mars, now dressed in a baggy pair of black jeans, white and red stripped T shirt with some baseball team name on it--honestly could have cared less-- and a red cap hanging low to cover his eyes.
It had been nearly six days of freedom, living on the run from the patrols, having to resort to 'aggressively borrow' clothing and money from people. The teen walked into a dinner, pretty nice looking place for a simple burger joint, made to look like a old fashion dinner from back when they still used fossil fuels. Sean tried not to grin.
A few minutes later he had ordered up a sensible lunch and at the bar while trying not to look at people in the eye. Last thing he wanted is to have people recognize him before lunch...or period. He bit his lip while he sat there deep in thought.
Speaking of being spotted...what happened three days ago...I remember getting cornered...then...nothing...what did I do?
Eventually his thoughts were interrupted by the waitress, she sat his lunch down and walked away, giving a gentle smile before dashing off to help others. Nearly ten minutes later he sighed, patting his full belly, he blinked slightly when the monitor on the wall suddenly lit up with the news, the title catching his attention.
Red Menace attacks UE soldiers.
Sean swallowed the lump that formed in this throat. No...
Images flashed across the monitor from what looked like a surveillance camera, it was him...well it...trashing UE soldiers, rather brutally, the images very graphic and extremely violent...oh my god...
The teen jumped out of his chair and ran into the bathroom, the contents of his stomach reversing direction at the site of what he did into the toilet, he braced his arm on the seat, breathing heavily as he recovered, his cap fell off landed on the floor.
I am a monster...I deserve to be locked up...gods...why me.
He rested his head on the cool--and thankfully--sterile seat. After a few minutes he stood up, retrieved his cap and walked back into the restaurant. Quickly he paid with his meal with the stolen credit chip and exited the dinner, hands at his side as he walked in no particular direction.
I won't be caged by them again...not after that hell...and I can't live here forever, eventually they'll figure me out. Earth? he scoffed to himself. No, to well secured by UE. I need someplace....
A grin spread across his face.
The asteroid belt, very little UE traffic, and a decent place to settle down where he could be left alone or until he found someplace else to run to.
His plan set up in his mind he scanned the streets ahead, stopping to toss out the old data chips he collected in the trash, he sighed when he spotted a rich couple walking his way. He kept his head down as they approached him, accidental bumping into the man in his early thirty's. He turned back and apologized and walked away not waiting for a answer.
Sean flipped his new credit chip in his fingers and smiled. This should get me to the cove. Or close enough at least, might have to 'borrow' again on the way.
He shrugged to himself, it was necessary, either that or go live back in that facility. And to hell with that idea.
