Andromeda bustled around busily, putting away all of her ill-gotten gains, carefully categorizing them and putting away the supplies in the med-bay. Tyke had held true to his word, and delivered her entire cache right on schedual. The slender doctor had done her best to ignore any goggle-eyed looks she got from the crew, who had to know that the price-tag attached to some of this stuff was astronomical--and that the only reason she needed a good portion of it was to try and revive the Captain's mother.
She sighed bitterly. No doubt they were wondering if she would go to such lenghs for just anyone, or was it because she was involved with Josetta that she had sacrificed so much. The truth of that being Andromeda would make just about any sacrifice needed to save a life, no matter whom they were related. The fact that it was Jo's mother had just . . . escalated it.
Still, the componants would require an engineer to put together, which would be no easy task, or quick one. And then even after the device was constructed, it would take several months to thaw 'Queen Cobra' safely. Chryogenics had been unstable even during their prominant use, and now even more so after it had been largely outlawed by the UE.
For now, Andromeda focused on the new supplies she had gotten to make the new serum she had been testing. Hours passed without her even really realizing it, before the drug was completed. Once finished, she had enough for two doses. Eager to test it, Andromeda went straight from the bay to the wing of rooms. Her steps turned to Amanda first, who showed the best life-sign readings at present.
The doctor took a moment to murmur a swift prayer, and then she bent and injected the pale blue substance into the young girl. Andromeda glanced at her readings, holding her breath. After what seemed like an eternity, the brainwaves jumped. And then began outputting like mad.
A moment later the dark-haired girl wrenched awake with a slight cry.
"Sh-h," Andromeda soothed, laying a forestalling hand on her shoulder. The girl stared up at her, eyes wide with confusion fear and uncertainty. "I'm not going to hurt you, Amanda. You're aboard the Plunder's Heart, among friends. Your nightmare is over, sweetheart," she finished softly, her fingers squeezing. Amanda blinked up at her, looking torn between hope and mistrust.
A moment later the door suddenly opened, however, and a tiny little boy entered. His whole body sparked brilliantly at seeing her awake. Amanda gasped, her tiny wings fluttering.
"Toby?!"
Toby overcame his gaping shock with a slight, hoarse rasp of sound. "Maa-ndaa!" he croaked, with barely a whisper of noise escaping the breathiness of his ruined voice.
And then he was running forward, his electricity shutting off just in time for him to throw his arms around her shoulders. Amanda just laughed, crying, and clutching him also.
Andromeda just stood back for now, smiling through her own happy tears. Two down, four to go.
